FoodFeed
A personalized web experience to encourage learning and discovery
FoodFeed is an online resource for people to easily sift through information about food, recipes, tools and techniques. Eliminating the task of visiting multiple sites to find one answer, FoodFeed aggregates recipes and reference material into one place. Recipes are collected like an RSS feed from only the user's trusted food sites and the reference section is a collection of factual cooking information. FoodFeed also encourages education and exploration within the context of the recipe. Clicking on an ingredient name will open the 'fact finder' bar and provide reference information about that ingredient including, images, substitutions, and preparation.

Based on our selected user groups, young professionals and students, we created a model describing their motivations for using the internet for food-related searches. The model shows that while both groups look for information in 2 categories, encyclopedia and recipes, based on their specific needs, each group would access one section more than the other.
FoodFeed personalizes the user experience with a sophisticated filtering system that allows the user to search only their favorite sites, but it is also a platform in which they can recieve recommendations to expand their network of sites.
